Our partnership with Living Classrooms Foundation affords many ways to live our mission of service to the community as well as to our guests. We’ve developed a joyous bond with the Foundation’s BUGS (Baltimore Urban Gardening with Students) program, which teaches inner-city grade school kids about gardening, good nutrition, applied academics and more. A percentage of our profits support the program and, working with our chefs and partners, BUGS kids grow produce for the restaurant in gardens and a greenhouse just down the street.

Waterfront Kitchen’s beautiful new greenhouse was built to be shared and enjoyed with the BUGS kids. Our annual BUGS Fundraiser continues to raise money to support the program. Like the Waterfront Kitchen Greenhouse page on Facebook to see what BUGS and Waterfront Kitchen are doing together in the garden.

We also support Living Classrooms’ Project SERVE job training program, hiring disadvantaged area residents and ex-offenders determined to become productive members of society for jobs in our kitchen and dining room. They learn marketable skills and gain job experience, creating the prospect of thriving careers in the hospitality industry.
